-- 23rd Annual Teddy Bear Days at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is so much fun, itís un-BEAR-able! --

July 5, 2011, Colorado Springs, CO – Kids receive a special admission discount during Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s 23rd annual Teddy Bear Days this Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10. Kids 12 and under accompanied by a teddy bear or other stuffed friend get into the zoo for just $5.25.

Be sure to stop by Lodge at Moose Lake for Teddy Bear Days activities, including face painting, mascot meet-and-greets, giveaways, and the much-loved Teddy Bear Clinic. Nurses from Memorial Health System and other volunteers will be on hand to give free teddy bear check-ups. They’ll administer stitches, splints, and other medical care as needed, and each bear’s weight, height, and temperature will be recorded on a certificate of health. The clinic gives kids the opportunity to learn about the types of things that might happen during a visit to the doctor or hospital so it isn’t quite as scary.

Keeper talks and enrichment demonstrations are also scheduled throughout the day in Bear Grotto, near Monkey Pavilion (Andean bears, Asiatic black bears), and Rocky Mountain Wild (grizzly bears). For example, zookeepers will set up a simulated camp site in the grizzly bear exhibit so guests can see what could happen if they leave food out while camping.
