HUGE CROWDS EXPECTED FOR BOO AT THE ZOO HALLOWEEN WEEKEND

-- Friday and Sunday your best bets for the last weekend of Boo at the Zoo at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo --

October 27, 2011 – Nearly 8,000 people streamed through the gates of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo last weekend for the biggest Halloween party in the region and even more are expected this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 28 – 30. Boo at the Zoo is for families wanting a safe, not-too-scary adventure and runs 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night, with last admission sold at 7:30 p.m. The largest crowd is expected Saturday night, and slightly fewer people Friday and Sunday. Arrival before ticket pre-sales begin at 5:00 p.m. is encouraged. Parking at the zoo is limited, and once all spots are filled, a wait can be expected.

The popular haunted house and ghostly graveyard both return this year, and be sure to check out the “Things That Go Bump in the Night” animal show at the Lodge at Moose Lake nightly at 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Littler spooks will enjoy the creepy bat cave, pumpkin path and Boo Carousel. Select animal exhibits will also be open, including giraffes, The Loft, Monkey Pavilion, Lion's Lair and Aquatics.

Orangutan-Friendly Candy

9,000 pounds of orangutan-friendly candy will be handed out at dozens of Spooky Treat Stations throughout Cheyenne Mountain Zoo over the six nights. The zoo’s candy supply is purchased from companies belonging to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), and committed to the use of sustainable palm oil and conservation efforts in Indonesia and Malaysia.
