LIGHTS, ANIMALS, AND HOLIDAY SPIRIT AT CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO

-- Cheyenne Mountain Zoo celebrates 20th anniversary of Electric Safari! --

December 2, 2010, Colorado Springs, CO – It’s a holiday tradition not to be missed nightly, Friday, December 17, 2010 – Sunday, January 2, 2011 (Electric Safari closed Christmas Eve). Electric Safari features nearly one million sparkling lights, with light-themed clusters, animated light sculptures, and energy-saving LED lighting. Soar over the lights on the Mountaineer Sky Ride, then warm up by one of the fires throughout the Zoo. Be sure to visit Santa Zone, real reindeer, music, and toasty treats. Santa and Mrs. Claus will personally take your holiday wishes through December 23. Since it’s a season of giving, you can help make gifts for the animals at the Loft and learn more about your favorites during special zookeeper talks each night. Select animal exhibits are also open during the event, including African Rift Valley, Rocky Mountain Wild, Asian Highlands, Monkey Pavilion, Lion's Lair, and Aquatics.

Special Signing Santa Night During Electric Safari

Tuesday, December 21

Celebrate the spirit of Christmas with your family during a very special night of Electric Safari. Deaf and hard of hearing kids can share their wish list with Santa in American Sign Language, and volunteers from Access 2 Sign Language, a local interpreting agency, will be on hand to interpret zookeeper talks and animal demonstrations.

Brunch With Santa

Saturday, December 18

The menu was carefully planned to include Santa’s favorites - fluffy scrambled eggs, yummy waffles, herb roasted chicken, hand-carved pork, and more! Remember to bring your camera, as professional photos will not be taken.

Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make your reservations early. Zoo admission required and not included in the price of brunch.
