SIGNING SANTA SEES CHILDREN’S HOLIDAY WISHES
-- Special Signing Santa Night planned during 20th anniversary of Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. --
December 17, 2010, Colorado Springs, CO – Remember how magical it was to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what was on your Christmas list? Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is excited even more kids will have the opportunity to “speak” directly with Santa during a special night of Electric Safari Tuesday, December 21. Deaf and hard of hearing kids will be able to communicate with Santa through American Sign Language, without the need for an interpreter. Volunteers from Access 2 Sign Language, a local interpreting agency, will also be on hand throughout the evening to interpret zookeeper talks and animal demonstrations.
The 20th anniversary of Electric Safari kicks off tonight at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Electric Safari is open nightly, Friday, December 17, 2010 – Sunday, January 2, 2011 (Electric Safari closed Christmas Eve) and features nearly one million sparkling lights, with light-themed clusters, animated light sculptures, and energy-saving LED lighting. Soar over the lights on the Mountaineer Sky Ride, then warm up by one of the fires throughout the Zoo. Be sure to visit Santa Zone, with real reindeer, music, and toasty treats. Santa and Mrs. Claus will personally take your holiday wishes through December 23. Since it’s a season of giving, you can help make gifts for the animals at the Loft and learn more about your favorites during special zookeeper talks each night. Select animal exhibits are also open during the event, including African Rift Valley, Rocky Mountain Wild, Asian Highlands, Monkey Pavilion, Lion's Lair, and Aquatics.
