African Rift Valley Tours and Rentals
Safari
Trail Immersion Tours:

Times: 10 am, 11 am, 2 pm and 3 pm
Cost: $5.00 per person with maximum of 10 people per tour

Advanced reservations are advised, however same day reservations may
be possible when available on a first come first served basis.
Schools - Experience the
African Rift Valley:
Docent-Led Tour for grades 2 and up - Find
out more about Docent tours.
Includes: Classroom Safari of 45-60 minutes (includes
a “hands-on” biofacts exhibit)
and a Zoo tour for 90 minutes (normally scheduled 4-7 days after the
Safari)
Ratio: Approximately 8-10 students per docent-led tour
group.
Description: This tour focuses on African Rift Valley
animals, ecosystems, and the Maasai culture. You will learn about unique
features of the Rift Valley including kopjes, baobab trees, water holes,
soda lakes and the savannah. Behavior and structure are important in determining
a species’ ability to survive in these varied ecosystems. People’s impact
on this fragile environment is explored through the Maasai culture, ecotourism,
and illegal activities. Included are opportunities to feel and experience
giraffe biofacts and the consequences of poaching. The combined African
Rift Valley tour and safari address: Science Standards 3.1, 3.2, &3.4
and Geography Standards 1.1,2,3.1, 4.1,5.2,&6.1
Cost: $4.50 each per student, teacher or adult.
