-- “Stars, Stripes and Sunscreen” --
August 10, 2007 –Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will again host a Military Appreciation Weekend this year. The dates scheduled are Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16, 2007. As in years past, the Zoo wishes to express its appreciation to the many active duty military families in our community who make huge sacrifices on the public’s behalf each and every day. With so many service members returning from duty away from home, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo wishes to invite military families to spend some quality time together at the Zoo.
Military Appreciation Weekend will be two fun-filled days of stars, stripes and sunscreen. Admission for active duty military personnel and their families will be reduced to $2 per person during this special weekend when the Zoo thanks those who risk their necks to protect ours.
Celebrating its 81st anniversary, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been a place
where memories are made and people of all ages and all walks of life come
together to explore the animal kingdom. The Zoo remains one of a handful
of non-profit, self-supporting zoos in the nation that depends entirely
on earned income, membership dues, gifts and donations for funding. Cheyenne
Mountain Zoo is open every day of the year and is home to more than 800
animals representing approximately 142 species, 30 of which are endangered.
