CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO

CONSERVATION PROGRAMS

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is committed to the exhibition and conservation of endangered species. We also strive to be a green business with programs for on-site conservation of energy and natural resources, recycling and responsible land use. The Zoo participates in over 30 Species Survival Programs, related Taxon Advisory Groups, Conservation Action Plans, and the International Species Inventory System (ISIS). All of the Zoo’s education programs are designed to raise awareness of the importance of preserving ecosystems. Earth Fest (in honor of Earth Day) is celebrated during the early Summer of each year at the Zoo. The event encourages resource conservation and hosts local and regional conservation groups who provide workshops and informative materials to Zoo visitors. Going beyond Zoo boundaries to make a difference for conservation is an active part of our conservation efforts as well, with both regional species recovery programs and a field conservation program.
