ANIMAL HAPPENINGS at the ZOO
Listed are activities that occur throughout zoo grounds on a limited basis.
Please note some of these talks happen only during summer months between Memorial and Labor Day.
Please call ahead of time to insure that the activity you are interested in will be happening the day of your visit.

10:00 AM - Komodo Dragon Demonstrations:
When: Daily at 10 am & 3 pm
Where: Aquatics Building

11:00 AM - Penguin Feedings:
When: Daily at 11:00 am & 3:30-4:00 pm
Where: Aquatics building, inside in front of penguins

11:30 AM - African Rift Valley Animal Talks: (Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Daily during the Summer months from 11:30 am and 2:30 pm
Where: On the boardwalk in the African Rift Valley
What: All ARV keeper talks are advertised on a big sandwhich board at the front of the giraffe building. Talks are done throughout the day on the boardwalk.

1:15 - 3:15 PM - Animal Ambassadors: Saturdays and Sundays Only
When: Every Saturday and Sunday from 1:15 pm -3:15 pm
Where: Bird and Reptile House
What: Docent Volunteers have different animals out available for contact and educational experiences with the public.

3:00 PM - Elephant Training Demonstrations: (Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Daily during the Summer months at 3 pm
Where: Inside the elephant building in front of elephant area or outside in front of elephant yard

2:15 PM - Primate Enrichment: Sundays only (Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Sundays during the Summer months at 2:15 pm
Where: Monkey Pavilion

2:15 PM - Lion Enrichment: Thursdays only(Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Thursdays during the Summer months at 2:15 pm
Where: Lion's Lair

2:30 PM - Hippo Training Demonstrations:
When: Daily at 2:30 pm
Where: Aquatics Building inside at hippos
What: Are hippos smart? - you be the judge - come see Zookeepers train and practice various interactive exercises with hippos.

2:30 PM - African Rift Valley Animal Talks: (Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Daily during the Summer months 11:30 am and 2:30 pm
Where: On the boardwalk in the African Rift Valley

2:30 PM - Orangutan Keeper Talk: Wednesdays & Sundays Only (Memorial Day - Labor Day only)
When: Wednesdays & Sundays during the Summer months  at 2:30 pm
Where: In front of orangutan exhibits

VARIOUS TIMES - Safari Immersion Trail Tours (ages 5 & up):
When: Daily in the Summer months of June - August, then Sat & Sun in May & September
           Tour times are 10am, 11am, 2pm, and 3pm
           Call for winter tour availability - 719-633-9925, ext. 111.
           Ask/reserve your time at the Zoo admissions gate during regular tour season.
Where: Africal Rift Valley Entry Plaza details & reservations
What: Tour with a Keeper down along with the giraffes on the Immersion Trail!
Cost: $5 per person with maximum of 10 people. It's a Quiet Zone - No children under 5 years of age, sorry.
