Giving Opportunities

Go Wild for Encounter Africa!

Gifts may be made in annual installments, enabling donors to pledge a significantly larger amount than a one-time commitment might permit. Installment gifts can be paid over a period of up to five years, depending on the time of the pledge.

Because the Zoo is a non-progit organization, gifts are tax-deductible as permitted by law and can take a number of forms: cash, securities, trusts, real estate and other personal property (as approved by the Board of Directors), etc.

Named gift opportunities are also available that will allow the Zoo to recognize donors publicly for commitments to Encounter Africa.

Bank On It!

Decorate your collectible elephant bank between now and April 1, 2012 to help our Community Campaign to reach the $13.5 million fundraising goal for Encounter Africa! Learn all the details.

Stock Gifts

Stock gifts are often a desirable way to contribute substantial support, because gifts of appreciated securities held longer than one year can sometimes provide greater tax advantages than cash gifts. Please consult your tax advisor.

Cash Gifts

Gifts may be made in annual installments for which you will receive annual reminders. Due to accounting requirements, donors requesting installment payments will be asked to sign a pledge contribution form provided by the Zoo.

Matching Gifts

Contributions can be maximized through the matching gift programs of many companies. Donors will be recognized for the combined amount of the gift.

In the Beginning:

When Penrose incorporated the Zoo as a non-profit public trust for the people of Colorado Springs, he could hardly have imagined that his small menagerie would someday become one of the finest private zoological parks in the country.

Right Now:

Today, there are a number of reasons that people love Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and it's not just about the animals (although we do have a world-class animal collection featuring more than 30 endangered species). For example...

We care about conservation.

By supporting conservation efforts globally and locally, the Zoo is finding new and better ways to effectively care for and conserve nature and its inhabitants. Through our exciting Quarters for Conservation program, one quarter from each admission goes directly to support conservation efforts, both on Zoo grounds and around the world.

We're a great community partner.

The Zoo reaches out through special events and partnerships to help build a stronger community. Through our Central Bancorp ZooMobile and signature events such as DreamNight and Military Days, we provide incredible experiences and lifelong memories for kids and families that may not otherwise have the opportunity.

We're a place for kids...of all ages.

Whether you're helping to care for a giant millipede, getting up close and personal with a Nigerian dwarf goat, or having your very own WildNight at the Zoo, one thing's for sure - Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is THE place for kids and families. Besides being a great place to spend an afternoon, the Zoo is also a remarkable resource for learning; each year, more than 40,000 kids participate in our formal education programs.

We mean business.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo prides itself on running a healthy, thriving business that will continue to improve for generations to come. The Zoo is one of only a handful of accredited Zoos in the country that operates without tax support, depending entirely on admissions, program fees, membership dues, and donations and grants for funding. By creating new revenue streams, operating on a tight budget and making each dollar work like two, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is building a strong and secure future.

We're just plain fun.

From incredible up-close animal encounters to riding the Mountaineer Sky Ride, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a new experience every time. We're also recognized as one of the top attractions in the Pikes Peak region. With more than 500,000 guests per year, the Zoo is providing memories for a lifetime for families from all over the world and right here in Coloraod Springs.
