Badges Earned Up-close.
Whether your group is interested in spending a few hours, a day, or a whole night, we have just the right program for you! There are a variety of programs available for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts that offer the opportunity to complete most of or all of the necessary requirements for several conservation, nature and animal-related badges.
Our prescheduled workshops make it convenient to join in on program fun with other Scouts groups too! Online registration is coming soon for these prescheduled programs.
In addition, discover the annual Girl Scouts Day and Cub Scout/Boy Scouts Night Zoo scouting events, their details are listed below.
Scouting Events
Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts Night - Saturday, July 14, 2012 - 5pm
Come and join the fun and adventure while learning about animals and conservation. In this unique evening where the Zoo is open just to scouts and their families, enjoy a cookout style dinner, guided tours, and lots of badge activities! Girl Scouts Day - April 29, 2012 11:00am- 4:00pm
Come join us at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! Enjoy all the amenities of the zoo, including the African Rift Valley, visit the gorillas, explore with the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Education department or just have fun being around your Girl Scout sisters from all over the council. Boy Scout Badge Workshops
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a unique and unforgettable location for scouts of all ages to work on their badges and achievements. Consider one of our specially designed Scout Badge Workshops geared toward your scout groups’ needs. You choose the badge or achievements and we do the rest!! During your workshop, enjoy private use of one of our Zoo cabins for a portion of your activities, a private tour including an up-close personal experience with a Zoo staff, as well as the chance to meet a few of our Zoo animal ambassadors. Programs fulfill the requirements of one badge or select set of achievements. Scouts will be awarded with certificates at the end of the program showing which badge or achievements they completed during their workshop.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo requires a minimum of 8 scouts to book a Badge Workshop.
To book a private scout workshop with your den or pack, call (719) 633-9925 X 127 or email edprograms@cmzoo.org.
Note: Reservations are required at least 7 days in advance for Prescheduled Scout Workshops or 14 days in advance for all other Scout Badge Workshops. A $25 non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration. Refunds will not be given for any cancellation unless it is made by the Zoo. Please see registration policies for more information.
CUB SCOUT BADGE WORKSHOPS:
Tiger Cub Workshop
Achievements: 5D, 5F, 5G & Electives: 31, 34, 42, 43, 47

Time: 2 hours
Cost: $12.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.

Wolf Cub Workshop
Achievements: 7a, 7b, 7c, 10c & Elective 14d
Belt Loop: Wildlife Conservation
Time: 2 hours

Bear Cub Workshop

Badge: Naturalist (Outdoor series)

Time: 2 hours

BOY SCOUT MERIT BADGE WORKSHOPS:
Due to certain time constraints, some sections of most merit badges listed cannot be completed at the Zoo. When booking your Merit Badge Workshop, we will provide you with a list of which sections that will need to be completed ahead of time.
Merit Badge: Mammal Study
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $15.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.
Other adults may receive $2 off admission.
Adult Zoo members are free up to 8 adult members, then each additional adult member is $8.25.
Merit Badge: Insect Study
Time: 3 hours
Cost:$15.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.
Other adults may receive $2 off admission.
Adult Zoo members are free up to 8 adult members, then each additional adult member is $8.25.
Merit Badge: Veterinary Study
Time: 3 hours
Cost: $15.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.
Other adults may receive $2 off admission.
Adult Zoo members are free up to 8 adult members, then each additional adult member is $8.25.
Merit Badge: Reptile and Amphibian Study
Time: 6 hours
Cost:$26.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.

Merit Badge: Environmental Science
Time: 6 hours
Cost: $26.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.

Time: 4 hours
Cost: $20.25 per Scout, 1 chaperone free per 8 kids.

**NOTE: We do have a Merit Badge Counselor on staff that will be able to sign off on blue cards for Boy Scouts. Boy Scouts will be asked to bring in their own blue cards.
Badge Workshops are geared only for Scouts and their adult chaperones. Siblings are discouraged. Siblings (over the age of three) that will be present during the workshop will be counted as Scouts and will be required to pay the Scout rate listed. Not all requirements of each badge may be met while at the Zoo due to time constraints or other unforeseen circumstances.

Let the Zoo come to you! Zoo on the Move (ZOOM) brings live animals directly to your Girl or Boy Scout meetings and gatherings throughout the Pikes Peak region. Choose from a variety of animals to tailor the presentation to your group's interests, so it will educate, inspire and excite.
