Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers summer camp adventures that share the wonders of wildlife and wild places in fun and exciting ways. Campers meet animals up close, explore the outdoors, interact with zookeepers, make treats for the animals, design cool crafts and more!

Zoo Summer Camp Programs 2011:
Full Day Camps - without an overnight**
(Ages 5-15)
Campers will love the many fun-filled camps offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. all through the summer! Camp programs are listed below in ascending order by age, from youngest to oldest. Extended Care is offered in every camp session without an overnight, please see the Extended Care expandable section below for details.
Zoofari (Ages 5-7)
Session 1 - June 6-10**Sold Out
Bears, birds, snakes and bugs! Younger campers discover the wonderful world of wildlife. This is a great program for that curious camper!
Wild World (Ages 5-7)
Session 2 - June 13-17** Sold Out
Your youngsters can take a trip around the world right here at the Zoo! Throughout the week, campers will ‘visit’ different locations and learn about wild animals and their habitats.
Marvelous Mammals (Ages 6-10)
Session 1 - June 6-10** Sold Out

Sure, kids like almost any animal that’s cute and furry, but what makes a mammal a mammal? How are they unique from other animals? Learn about carnivores, primates and more in this session!
Feeding Frenzy (Ages 6-10)

Has your child ever wondered what Zoo animals eat everyday? If so, this is the camp for them! They’ll learn about omnivores, frugivores, piscivores and more as they help create food for some of our animals throughout the week.
African Safari (Ages 6-10)
Session 4 - June 20-24** Sold Out
Campers will travel from the Sahara to the savannah and across the rainforest while discovering lots of animals. We’ll see naked-mole rats, elephants and, of course, giraffes!
Cool Cats (Ages 6-10)
Session 2 - June 13-17** Sold Out
Session 13 - August 1-5** Sold Out
During this week-long program, campers will explore a different cat each day, learning about where they live, what they eat and how people can help them.
Artistic Instincts (Ages 8-12)
Session10 - July 18-22** Sold Out
Inspired by animals and nature, young Picassos explore their creative sides using mediums such as painting, sculpture, theatre and music. An additional $20 fee is charged for supplies.
Mountain Quest (Ages 9-12)

In this exciting session, teams race from exhibit to exhibit looking for clues and participating in investigations. Is your child up for the challenge?
Conservation Crusaders (Ages 10-15)

Do you have a young person that wants to make a difference for animals? Then, this session is for them. They’ll discover what Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is doing to help protect wildlife and wild places around the world and ways they can help too!

Note: 25 cents a day from each camp registration goes to Quarters for Conservation, which expands Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's regional and global conservation efforts.

Night Camp
(Ages 7-11)

Nocturnal Night Club (Ages 7-11)
Session 7 - July 6 & 7
In this special program, campers have the opportunity to spend two nights in a row at America’s only mountain zoo! Explore the habits of some of our favorite nocturnal animals and learn to identify constellations.

Offered in Session 7, evenings of July 6 and 7.
Camp runs from 6pm to 7am each night (there is no camp during the day) and includes dinner and breakfast.

Camp fees include both dinners and breakfasts, a t-shirt, a cup and a group picture.

Half Day Camp
(Ages 4-6)
This is a great opportunity for your little ones to try out the Zoo as their first camp experience. Sessions run Monday-Friday from 9am to 12pm or 12:30pm to 3:30pm.
Animal Wrappers (Ages 4-6)

Animals can be covered in many different things – scales, fur or feathers. They can also be many different colors. Your child will learn why some animals are fuzzy and soft while others are hard and scaly.
Big and Small (Ages 4-6)

Animals come in all different shapes and sizes. During this camp session, we’ll help your youngster compare the smallest of creatures to the biggest of beasts!

Camp runs This session runs Monday-Friday from 9am to 3pm for the first week and Monday-Wednesday from 9am to 3pm during the second week. There is no camp during the day on Thursday of the second week. The optional overnight starts at 7pm on the second Thursday and finishes on Friday at noon. Campers not wishing to participate in the overnight can still attend Friday's session from 8am to Noon.
Cost
Two week camp fees include a t-shirt, group photo and special summer camp cup.
Members: $266.25 per child
Non-members: $276.25 per child

Extended Care**
Need a little travel time before or after camp? Our Extended Care program entertains your child before and after camp from 7:30am to 9:00am and from 3:00pm to 5:45pm.
Extended Care is offered before and after camp for every week-long camp without an overnight throughout the summer.

Times - drop off & pick-up
Pre-care: drop off between 7:30am - 7:45am.
Post-care: pick-up between 5:30pm - 5:45pm.
**Cost
Pre-care: $45 per child per week
Post-care: $60 per child per week
Pre- and post-care: $100 per child per week

Sign-up for Extended Care by using either the online or mail-in registration form.
Scholarships
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has a scholarship fund for its educational programs. Scholarships can be either full or partial and will apply to the Zoo’s spring, summer, and winter camps. Criteria for selecting children for the program is based upon need.
Application deadline for Summer Scholarship Form submission is May 1, 2011.
If you would like to help a child attend a Cheyenne Mountain Zoo camp by making a $5 donation toward this program, please note your contribution at registration or contact Education at 719-633-9925 ext. 127 or email edprograms@cmzoo.org.
Refunds
Can't make it to camp? Just send us a written refund request at least two weeks before the camp's start date. We will refund your camp fee, less a $25 non-refundable administration fee. Sorry, no refunds will be given within two weeks of the camp's start date.
