Standard Loft Animal Art Experience

Join a Loft Zoo Keeper for a painting session with one of our Loft animals! We will provide the canvas and animal safe non-toxic paint and you can choose the animal artist, and paint colors.

  • Assist the keeper in set up, painting, and clean up with a special Loft animal.
  • Painting experiences are fun for all ages

Members $66.50 – includes one take home 9″ x 12″ board canvas of animal art
Non-members $81.50 – includes one take home 9″ x 12″ board canvas of animal art
(Your experience includes one person to join you to observe and take photos.)
Extra Animal Artist: $30 — Choose an additional animal from the list above to paint on the same canvas.

Details:

– Painting experiences are open to adults and children ages 3 to 15 years–when accompanied by an adult.
– The Loft Keeper will inform you as to which animals are available upon your arrival.
– Loft Art Experiences must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

Premium Loft Animal Art Experience

Animals on the premium list tend to need a little more time and provide a highly engaging experience for our guests. Keepers will provide the canvas and animal safe non-toxic paint and you can choose the animal artist, and paint colors.

  • Assist the keeper in set up, painting, and clean up with a special Loft animal.
  • The Loft is open just for you for a private painting session.

Black-tailed Prairie Dog

Petunia has a lot of fun while she is engaged in a painting session. She quickly runs through her paint and onto the canvas with ease and loves the tasty treats she gets when she is done.

Eclectus Parrot

Mister is an avian artist. Parrots are excellent at grasping objects with their zygodactyl feet. Mister uses this to his advantage, when holding his very own paint brush. He likes to make swoops and squiggles on the canvas.

North American Porcupine

A porcupine’s feet are great for climbing and holding on to trees, and in Kale’s case- creating special footprint art. She enjoys training with her keepers to make her masterpiece with many footprints and tail sweeps across her canvas.

A painting session with one of our skunks, either Fred or George, is sure to be a memorable time! They like to scamper, spin, and stand on the canvas, leaving unique marks for you to appreciate.

Tawny Frogmouth

Kirra hops around from paint to canvas to make a terrific painting every time. Her small feet are perfect for perching as well as painting! She even hops around in a water bath afterward to help clean off.

Loft Meet and Greet Experience

Meet an animal education super star up close!

  • Experiences include helping prepare diets, positive reinforcement training, and/or creating enrichment for an animal.
  • You get a one of a kind experience meeting with the charismatic animal of your choice.
  • Hear personal stories about our animals and learn what important roles their species has in their habitats.

American Kestrel
Falcons are built for speed, and our American Kestrel, Marty McFly is no exception. Marty is a small bird with a big personality. Watch him zip right in front of you while he trains with his keepers. You may even have a chance let him fly to your glove!

A great experience for owl lovers! Hoosier is a beautiful bird that can fly silently across the room. Participate in a training experience with his keepers and learn about some of his natural behaviors! Afterwards you may give him some of his favorite enrichment items. Porcupines are more than just a ball of quills! Learn about the porcupines that call Cheyenne Mountain Zoo home and get a chance to feed a porcupine their favorite treat. These smart rodents enjoy interacting with their keepers and will love to meet you too.

Is that an owl? Nope! Kirra, our Tawny Frogmouth, is unlike any other bird you have met before. This nocturnal bird might share some characteristics with owls, but you can learn what makes frogmouths unique when you plan an encounter with her. She will fly right into your heart, or even onto your hand!
