Wolf Enrichment & Keeper Talk

Catch a glimpse of the elusive Mexican grey wolf. Feeding time is a great time to see one of the rarest animals in North America.

Keepers Caring for Elephants

Daily, 10:45 a.m. & 2:15 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to care for an elephant herd? Join our keeper staff as they give our girls baths, pedicures and exercise.

Orangutans Enrichment

Daily, 11 a.m.
Primate World (PW) – outdoors or indoors (weather permitting)
Have you ever thought about why orangutans have such huge hands? Come see just how “handy” they are, as our orangutans share how some of their cool adaptations help them live in the rainforest. Find out how you can help make sure orangutans are around for years to come by learning about palm oil and how it affects their habitat.

Gator Demo

Come see how the keepers work with one of the largest reptiles on the planet.

Giraffe Training Demo

Have you heard about our herd? Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has one of the largest giraffe herds in the U.s., and we can’t wait to tell you all about them! Our giraffe will show you their training in action, and you can learn about how these gentle giants are helping to save their wild counterparts.

Meet the Gorilla Troop

Daily, 3 p.m.
Primate World (PW)
Get acquainted with the Zoo’s gorilla troop. Get the inside scoop while our animal care staff share what makes our gorillas and their wild counterparts so special.

Otter Training

Our aquatic acrobats will amaze you as they look for an underwater snack. Animal care staff will be on hand to share just how outstanding otters are.

Mountain Lion Training

Meet Colorado’s biggest cats and watch them interact with enrichment or train with their keepers. Be amazed at how well they adapt to their mountain home!

Quills in the Sky

What’s in that tree?! Is it a bird? Is it a monkey?! No, it’s a North American porcupine! Learn all about our quilled friends.

Tapir Training Demo

“That’s a funny looking creature. What is it?” Come to our tapir exhibit and see these great South American animals up close and learn about how cool they are.

Tree Kangaroo Keeper Talk

What’s that in the tree? It’s a kangaroo! Come learn all about this tree-dwelling cousin of the wallabies and see how well-adapted they are for living life in the forest canopy.

Learn why lynx are called the “ghost cats” and why their feet are so big. Watch our lynx enjoying some exciting toys and treats!

Red River Hog Feeding and Keeper Talk

Daily, 11:45 a.m.

Come to the hog exhibit for a little lunchtime visit. Keepers will feed the hogs and share some information about our hog family.

Grizzly Bear Enrichment Feeding

Tuesday & Thursday, 2:45 p.m.

Stop by to see Emmett and Digger play with enrichment made to bring out the best in our bears.

Bears Around the World

Wednesday & Friday, 3 p.m.
Bear Grottos (BG) – above Monkey Pavilion
Did you know that bears are one of the only species found all around the world? Come visit our Bear Grottos to see our bears get some enrichment.

Amazon Tree Trekkers

Get a unique look at some of our South American animals. Each morning, check out our sloths or some of the smallest primates in the Zoo as they make their way on overhead highways to and from
their outdoor exhibits.

Wings of Africa Bird Show

Daily, 10 a.m. (weather dependent)
African Rift Valley (ARV) – giraffe statue plaza
This year, our bird show stars are coming to YOU! Whether it’s pigeons flying over your head, a parrot showing off his talents or a hornbill taking mealworms from your hand, everyone is guaranteed a fun and educational experience, no matter which animal shows up!

Rocky Mountain Goat Show

Daily, 10:30 a.m.
Rocky Mountain Goats – activity yard at top of exhibit (between Aquatics and Carousel)
Rocky Mountain goats are some of North America’s greatest rock climbers. Ours are no exception, and they are excited to show off their great skills.

African Lion Show

Have you ever seen a lion hunt or run? Our pride is eager to show off how they enjoy their exhibit.

Rainforest Review

See some of the ways our primates have adapted to life high in the trees. Learn how you can help preserve a place for nature’s high fliers long into the future through habitat conservation.

Snow Leopard Show

Snow leopards are some of the most elusive big cats in the world, but  ours isn’t that shy. Come by and see just how agile these cats need to be to hunt in their mountain habitats

Stripes of Fury Tiger Show

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 11:15 a.m.
Asian Highlands (AH)
Learn how and why our animal care staff train and enrich our tigers. Catch a tiger training session, when they’ll show off their skills and adaptations, or watch them play with a new enrichment item.

Bear Necessities Grizzly Bear Show

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 2:45 p.m.

WWhat are the “bear necessities” for living like a wild grizzly? Emmett and Digger invite you to come by and see what natural behaviors make bears so perfectly adapted for living in their rugged mountain homes. You may even catch some training that allows us to take better care of the bears in their home here at the Zoo.

Treetop Acrobats

Daily, 3 p.m. (weather dependent)
African Rift Valley (ARV) – Colobus Tower
Colobus monkeys are a unique and amazing primate. Watch as our colobus troop shows off some of their amazing treetop acrobatic skills.


Guest Feeding & Up-Close Experiences

No need to make reservations for these unique feeding experiences at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Get up close with long-time favorites and some new additions on your next visit.

Budgie Buddies Feeding Experience

Daily, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Australia Walkabout (AW) – Budgie Buddies
Cost: $1 per seed stick
More fun than you can shake a seed stick at! Take a stroll through our aviary, surrounded by more than 100 free-flight Australian birds – budgies, finches, cockatiels, rosella and princess parrots.



Chicken Feeding Experience

Daily, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
My Big Backyard (BBY)
Cost: $1 per feed cup
Join in on one of the hottest urban farming trends – raising chickens! Hand-feed some of the rarest and most exotic chicken varieties.

Elephant Snack Time

Daily, 11 – 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 – 3 p.m.
Encounter Africa (EA) – next to Lane Falls
Cost: $10 for one feeding experience
           $15 for one feeding experience plus additional treat
Have you ever fed an elephant? Well, here is your chance! Come by and meet one of our elephants up-close and personal.
Your snack time experience helps contribute $25,000 annually toward elephant conservation!

Giraffe Feeding Experience

Daily, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
African Rift Valley (ARV) – boardwalk or barn (weather dependent)
Cost: $3 per lettuce bundle, or two for $5
A Cheyenne Mountain Zoo favorite, 365 days a year! Hand-feed our huge giraffe herd! Our elevated boardwalk will put you eye-to-eye with these graceful animals.

Rhino Snack Time

Daily, 12 – 12:30 p.m.
Encounter Africa (EA) weather permitting)
Cost: $10 for one feeding experience
How many people have had the opportunity to feed a rhino? Now is your chance! Jumbe is ready to slobber all over your hand.
Your snack time experience helps contribute $25,000 annually toward rhino conservation!
