In the wild, this lizard is limited to the island of Batanta in Indonesia. Discovered in 2001, its species name Varanus Macraei is for Duncan MacRae, the founder of a reptile park in Bali. They can range in size from 14 to 39 inches and have a prehensile tail. These lizards will eat small animals such as frogs, insects and eggs.
