FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Your membership is very important to us! Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one
of only a handful of AZA Accredited Zoos in the country (there are almost
200 zoos) that is not publicly funded. That means we rely SOLELY on income
from admissions, concessions, educational programs, memberships and donations
to operate. Members play an important role in our day-to-day operations,
such as food and supplies to care for our animals and gardens, maintenance
on our facilities and sufficient staff to keep our Zoo a safe and fun family
park.
The following are some common questions the Membership office receives
about your membership.
If you have more specific questions, suggestions, comments, or concerns
please call 633-9925 ext. 130 for the membership clerk or email: membership@cmzoo.org
Q: How long is my membership valid?
A: Your membership is valid for one full year from the time
of purchase.
Q: How many membership cards will I receive with my membership?
A: All memberships come with one card. If you choose to
add a third adult to your membership for $21.25, you will receive two cards
with your membership.
Q: How long will it take to get my new membership card?
A: Membership cards require between 7 and 10 days to process,
not including mail time. Please allow approximately two weeks to receive
your membership.
Q: Can I use my Cheyenne Mountain Zoo membership at other zoos?
A: No. Since Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one of only a handful
of accredited zoos in the country that does not receive tax support of
any kind and we depend on admissions, memberships, and donations to operate
the Zoo, we are unable to participate in the reciprocity program.
Q: Can I purchase a membership at the Zoo?
A: Yes! During the summer months there is a membership sales
booth right outside the admissions gate and during the winter months you
can purchase a membership at the admissions gate.
Q: If I want to visit the Zoo TODAY or within the next 10 days, what
is the best way for me to purchase or renew a membership?
A: If you are planning a visit to the Zoo within 10 days, the
best way to purchase a membership is at the Zoo. On your visit you will
receive a temporary membership card that can be used until your permanent
card is sent to you. If you purchase a membership online or
through the mail it can take up to 10 days for you to be recognized as
an active Zoo member. Online purchases are only processed
during business days, so if you purchase or renew a membership on the weekend,
the processing of your purchase will not begin until the next business
day.
Q: Do you offer a military discount on Zoo memberships?
A: Yes, if you are active duty or retired military we offer
a $5 discount for any new or renewing membership at any level. At this
time it is not possible to process your online membership purchase with
a military discount included. However, you may still purchase online and
add into the comments field this request and the zoo membership department
will get back to you before they submit your online order for payment.
Q: Can I include my grandchildren in my family membership even if
they don’t live with me?
A: Yes, grandchildren 18 and under can be included in any level
membership (except for the Individual Plus category), whether or not they
live in your household.
Q: How do I get a second membership card for my spouse or child,
or replace a lost membership card?
A: We are happy to print duplicate cards for a $5.00 fee. This
fee covers our processing time and to print the card. Simply send us a
check with instructions. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME AND ANY SPECIAL
REQUESTS. You may also request a duplicate card at our membership sales
booth or at the admission gate.
Q: We recently renewed our membership, but now we are moving. What
can we do?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds for membership.
You may “gift” the remainder of your membership to a family member, friend
or neighbor. Please call our Membership Department at (719)633-9925, ext.
130 for more information.
Q: I joined at one level, but now my circumstances have changed and
I need a higher level membership. What can I do?
A: You may upgrade your membership at any time. We have seven
levels
of membership, including Individual Plus, Family, Family Plus, Contributing,
Conservator, Patron and Patron Gold. You may also add a third adult provision
to any membership at any time for a small additional cost.
Please contact our Membership Department at 633-9925 ext. 130
or membership@cmzoo.org,
if you need more information.
