Maras & Egrets
It’s not a kangaroo, a deer, or a rabbit; it’s a Patagonian mara! These large rodents are native to grasslands in Argentina and are related to guinea pigs and capybaras. Watch for Western cattle egrets roaming around, too. These small birds are a type of heron. They patrol open fields and grassy areas in search of small prey, like insects. If you see them swaying side to side and bobbing their head, they have probably spotted a tasty treat!
