World Giraffe Day – June 21
Join Us in Celebrating Giraffe Around the World!

Help us celebrate the longest-necked animals on the longest day of the year, with fun giraffe-themed activities happening from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Meet our herd and their keepers in African Rift Valley, learn about giraffe encounter opportunities, and more. Discover the challenges giraffe face in the wild, learn about giraffe conservation, spread the word with #StandTallForGiraffe and tune-in to our live giraffe cams!
Advance admission tickets are required for members and the general public.

Fun Activities
Location: African Rift Valley – boardwalk
10 a.m. – Giraffe Fan Parade (meet in Giraffe Plaza and finish at the giraffe barn)
10:30 a.m. – Giraffe-themed African lion enrichment (at African lions’ lower-level viewing, by Elson’s Place)
1:30 p.m. – Giraffe training and keeper talk (in the giraffe barn)
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – World Giraffe Day Booths
Activities include:
– Enrichment making
– “How do giraffe eat?” (puppet pulling browse out of an enrichment feeding device)
– Life size drawing of CMZoo’s 8-month-old giraffe calf
– “Wednesday,” giraffe image that guests can stamp their fingerprints on (each giraffe has a unique spot pattern, just like our fingerprints)
– Face painting, special edition buttons for WGD
– Live citizen science project
– Photo booth, and so much more!
