To reach 240 hours:
Working 3 days (8 hours plus 1 hour lunch) a week = 10 weeks to complete internship
Working 4 days (8 hours plus 1 hour lunch) a week = 7.5 weeks to complete internship
Working 5 days (8 hours plus 1 hour lunch) a week = 6 weeks to complete internship (only an option if you are the only intern assigned to your animal area for the season)

*Because our interns are considered to be enrolled in a learning institution there is a tuition attached to the program. This includes a Zoo membership that is valid through the duration of your internship, and includes all the benefits that come with the membership (e.g.: free admission to the Zoo on your days off, discounts on Zoo programs, discounts on food and retail, etc.) A small amount of partial scholarships are available.

Application Details

– A Zoo Internship Application below must be submitted in advance via the ‘Apply Here’ link provided.
– A $100.00 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance.
– Full payment is due at your scheduled orientation.
– Please consult your school’s career counselor to inquire about receiving academic credit for your internship.
– Note: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo reserves the right to discontinue an internship at any time if student does not follow rules/guidelines. No refunds will be granted on fees if internship is more than half-way completed at time of termination.

– An Individual Plus Zoo Membership that is valid during your internship – see Individual Plus Zoo Membership for rates.
– Background check fee
– Orientation and training
– Uniform (shirt and nametag)
