A Wild Summer Experience.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers summer camp adventures that share the wonders of wildlife and wild places in fun and exciting ways. Campers meet animals up-close, explore the outdoors, interact with zookeepers, make treats for the animals, design cool crafts and more!

Summer Camp 2019 Registration is Open!


Summer Camp programs run from May – August.
Campers should register for the grade they will enter in the fall.
If a camp is full, you can call 719-424-7827 to add your camper to the wait list.
Minimum age is 5 years old.

Different ways to camp:

  • Full Week Camps – offered late May, June, July and August for K – 12th graders
  • Single Day Camps – offered late May, July 4th week and mid-August for K – 6th graders
  • Teen Workshops – offered weeks in June for 7 – 12th graders

What’s New in 2019?

Flock Parties

Flock Parties are themed block parties at the end of select weeks of camp at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. All camp groups socialize together and informally present projects they have worked on over the course of the week to their peers and camp mentors. There will be four daytime flock parties (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and one evening flock party (4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.) offered over the course of the summer.

For 1st – 6th graders, Daytime Flock Parties are included as a part of the last day of camp during select week-long camps. For evening Flock Parties you will need to register your camper(s) for the Flock Party AFTER your initial camp registration is complete. Please follow the Flock Party link included within your registration confirmation email from the Zoo to sign-up. Additional fees apply and afternoon attendance is required.

For Kindergarten campers only, you will need to register your Kindergarten camper(s) for their Flock Party AFTER your initial camp registration is complete. Daytime Flock Parties


Theme: Pollinator Garden Party

Dates: Friday, May 31 & Friday, June 21
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Description: On Friday, please join us for afternoon tea at the Pollinator Garden Party at Cluckingham Palace in honor of the amazing creatures responsible for the exquisite grounds called pollinators! Campers will enjoy a garden party among members of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s royal fur-family.
**Note: Kindergarten campers – you must register separately for your Flock Party, look for the link on your camp registration confirmation email. Additional fees apply and afternoon attendance is required.
 

Theme: Interdependence Day Pawrade!

Dates: Friday, July 5
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Description: We hold these truths to be self-evident that all creatures are interdependent on one another! Come learn about the Zoo’s founding feathers and celebrate the contributions to biodiversity it has made since it was founded in 1926.
**Note: Kindergarten campers – you must register separately for your Flock Party, look for the link on your camp registration confirmation email. Additional fees apply and afternoon attendance is required.
 

Theme: The Legend of Seepy Wallow

Dates: Friday, June 28
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Description: It’s International Mud Day at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! Campers will learn about the benefits of mud wallows for our animal ambassadors and participate in mud-themed activities all leading up to a Flock Party (“The Legend of Seepy Wallow) on Friday! You’ll want to bring a change of clothes to this camp. This is the third of four daytime flock parties hosted at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for campers this Summer!

Evening Flock Party


Theme: Niche Party

Dates: Friday, August 9
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Kindergarten Half-Day Camps

Kindergarteners love Zoo Camps offered as half-day camps, in both single day and full week opportunities May through August, 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NOTE: The minimum age for camp is 5 years old. No overnights available.

Extended Camps

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers early morning and late afternoon 1-hour extended camps to better fit your busy schedule.

There are three different extended camp options to choose fromis available to match all camp programs offered:

Early Birds Camp: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. ($25 per day or $100 for the week)
Later Gators Camp: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. sharp* ($25 per day or $100 for the week)
Beastly Bunch Camps: combine both early and late care camps ($45 per day or $215 for the week)

Scholarships

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has a scholarship fund for its Summer Camp program.

  • Due to limited funding, only partial scholarships will be awarded.
  • Scholarships apply to the Zoo’s Summer Camp Program.
  • Criteria for selecting children for the program is based upon need.
  • An application form is available here when the application process is open.

Application deadline for Summer Camp Scholarship Form submission is in the spring, with decisions be made no later than May 1..

Advance registration is required for all programs. Registrations may be received by phone, in-person or online. Programs are filled on a first come, first serve basis, and all registrations will be prioritized by date of receipt. Campers should register for the grade they will enter in the fall.

Program Cancellation

The Zoo reserves the right to cancel a program due to lack of enrollment or unforeseen circumstances in which the Zoo is closed. If the Zoo cancels the program, a full refund or rescheduling of the program is available.

Refund Policy

A refund request must be received no less than TWO WEEKS prior to the start of the program. If approved, the Zoo will refund the amount of the fee minus a $25 non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be given after two weeks prior to the start of the program.
