Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers summer camp adventures that share the wonders of wildlife and wild places in fun and exciting ways. Campers meet animals up-close, explore the outdoors, interact with zookeepers, make treats for the animals, design cool crafts and more!

2018 Summer Camp Registration is OPEN!


Summer Camp programs run from May – August.
Campers should register for the grade they will enter in the fall.
If a camp is full, you can call 719-424-7827 to add your camper to the waitlist.
Minimum age is 4 years old.

3 Different ways to camp:

  • Full Week Camps – offered June, July and August for Pre-K – 12th graders
  • Single Day Camps – offered May 23-24-25, July 2-3-5-6 and August 13-14-15 for Pre-K – 12th graders
  • Overnight Camp – offered on Thursday night, July 12, during the week of July 9-13 (1st – 6th graders only)

Preschool and Kindergarten Half-Day Camps

Preschoolers love Zoo Camps offered as half-day camps, in both single day and full week opportunities May through August, 9:00 a.m. to noon.
NOTE: The minimum age for camp is 4 years old. No overnights available.

Campers should register for the grade they will enter in the fall.
If a camp is full, you can call 719-424-7827 to add your camper to the waitlist.

Dates & Times

Mondays – Fridays (or as scheduled);
Half day – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cost

Registration includes one camp t-shirt, camp cup, daily snack, and any take home items.
Extended care camp and extra camp t-shirts available at check-out.

Single Half-Day Camps:
Members – $30.75 per child
Non-members – $35.75 per child

Full Week Half-Day Camps:
Members – $150.75 per child
Non-members – $175.75 per child

Note: 75 cents a day from each camp registration goes to Quarters for Conservation, which expands Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s regional and global conservation efforts.

Wild Wardrobe

Animals can be covered in many different things – scales, fur, or feathers. They can also be many different colors. Your child will learn why some animals are fuzzy and soft while others are hard and scaly.

Grossology

Vulture vomit. Skunk Spray. Elephant Poop. Take a closer look at gross animal science and discover just how awesome and important it really is! Conduct experiments and try to discover which animal is the grossest here at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Will it be the moose, the skunks, or the kids? Animal Investigators

Animals need different things based on their species. Do you know how much meat to give an owl? Or what kinds of enrichment make snakes “happy”? Come explore all of the things that zookeepers do to keep all of our animals healthy, and even create some fun animal enrichment while you are here!

Combine your love of animals and nature and join your fellow teens to dig into the amazing discoveries the natural world has to offer. Explore the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo—getting up close with animals—and uncover what is being done in the wild to preserve incredible animal species. Extended Camps

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers early morning and late afternoon 1-hour extended camps to better fit your busy schedule.

There are three different extended camp options to choose from:

Early Birds Camp: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. ($25 per day or $100 for the week)
Later Gators Camp: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. sharp* ($25 per day or $100 for the week)
Beastly Bunch Camps: combine both early and late care camps ($45 per day or $215 for the week)

Scholarships

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has a scholarship fund for its Summer Camp program.

  • Due to limited funding, only partial scholarships will be awarded.
  • Scholarships apply to the Zoo’s Summer Camp Program.
  • Criteria for selecting children for the program is based upon need.
  • An application form is available here when the application process is open.

Application deadline for Summer Camp Scholarship Form submission is in the spring, with decisions be made no later than May 1..
NOTE: 2018 summer camp scholarships are now closed.

Zoo Camp Program Registration Policies

The following policies have been developed to enable us to clarify program fees and manage registrations more effectively.

Registration

Advance registration is required for all programs. Registrations may be received by phone, in-person or online. Programs are filled on a first come, first serve basis, and all registrations will be prioritized by date of receipt. Campers should register for the grade they will enter in the fall.

Program Cancellation

The Zoo reserves the right to cancel a program due to lack of enrollment or unforeseen circumstances in which the Zoo is closed. If the Zoo cancels the program, a full refund or rescheduling of the program is available.

Refund Policy

A refund request must be received no less than TWO WEEKS prior to the start of the program. If approved, the Zoo will refund the amount of the fee minus a $25 non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be given after two weeks prior to the start of the program.
