Horticulture Curator

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Horticulture Curator to engage fully and to own the on-grounds beauty of the Zoo; strategically manage the Zoo’s horticulture assets; and effectively utilize available staff and budget to accomplish horticultural goals and Zoo objectives. This is a full-time, benefited, salaried position.

This is a working supervisor position and candidates will spend 80% to 90% of their time on grounds dedicated to horticulture work throughout the Zoo both individually as well as managing the team on horticulture-related projects. This is a physically demanding position that will be conducted in all weather conditions. Weekend duty may be required as well as additional holiday and evening event support.

A degree in horticulture or extensive related work experience is required. The ability to run typical small and large horticulture equipment is required. Proven project and budget management experience is required for this position. Adaptability, exceptional customer service and people skills, maturity, good judgement and strong management experience is expected.

Candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screening. Candidates must have a valid Colorado driver’s license, be insurable as a driver in the state of Colorado, and candidates must have reliable transportation.

Public Relations & Social Media Manager (job description updated 1-9-18)

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Public Relations and Social Media Manager in the Marketing Department. This candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant public relations experience and will ideally have some supervisory experience. Candidate must also have a demonstrated familiarity and ability to plan and execute business-related social media campaigns. This position will directly supervise the Assistant Manager of Public Relations & Social Media. Candidate must be an extremely organized multi-tasker with strong documentation skills. Candidate must also be an unbridled optimist and a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. A successful candidate in this position will have an insatiable curiosity about what others are doing around the Zoo, and have a passion to inform our guests and the community about their work. Summer Camp Mentor

Summer Camp Mentors take a leading role in environmental education for toddlers through 12th graders in the Zoo’s overnights, birthday parties, early childhood programs, zoo tours, zoo camp and other programs. The goal of these programs is to instill and foster a lifelong love for nature and animals as well as introduce or develop lifelong passions for activities that tie youth directly to wildlife and/or wild places. Through live animal presentations, games, crafts and Zoo hikes, mentors will help children to teenagers to provide a link between people and nature and meet these program goals.
