Boo at the Zoo

October 18-19-20, 4 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:30 p.m.) Come See the Original Creatures of the Night. It’ll be all treats and no tricks for your little pirates and princesses at this year’s Boo at the Zoo, the region’s most unique Halloween event. Boo at the Zoo is a fun way for families with young children to trick-or-treat and enjoy Halloween festivities in a safe environment, and all of our candy is made with sustainable palm oil to help protect wild orangutans!

Wolf Awareness Week

Saturday, October 19 @ 9:00 am - Friday, October 25 @ 5:00 pm

To celebrate Wolf Awareness Week (Oct. 19-25), we’ve got a special event planned on Sat., Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rocky Mountain Wild! In addition to the regularly scheduled wolf feeding and talk at 10:30 a.m., we’ll also have a special enrichment demonstration and wolf keeper talk at 2 p.m. Tables will be located throughout Rocky Mountain Wild with activities for kids of all ages, as well as information about the cross-fostering program, ways to live peacefully with wolves, and more! If you can’t make it to the celebration on the 26th, we encourage you to come to #CMZoo during Wolf Awareness Week (Oct. 19-25). There will be a wolf feeding and talk every day at 10:30 a.m. during the week. Join us as we celebrate this keystone species!

Outdoor School – Wild Women: Day Hike

Saturday, October 26 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

All ages. Join this program for women, led by women. Explore a true local gem- North Cheyenne Canyon- during one of the best times of year to enjoy the outside. This day hike will cover about 4 miles of beginner level hiking, looking for wildlife, and taking time to be present in nature. Take a break from the noise and spend some time in the wild! Kids Only Roar and Snore Sleepover

Saturday, November 16 @ 6:00 pm - Sunday, November 17 @ 6:00 pm

Ages 5+. Do the animals at the Zoo snore or roar in the night? You no longer need to guess, come see what it’s like to spend the night among the creatures at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We’ll walk through the Zoo at night and discover what happens when the lights go out and the animals are in the dark. Let us do all the work, all you have to do is drop the kiddos off, we will have a pizza party, roast s’mores, and go for an evening tour, we’ll even get to meet an animal up close! Drop off is at 6pm and pick up is at 8am the following morning, hope to see you there. We will even throw in a continental breakfast and a morning tour will complete your adventure. NOTE: Kids must be 5 years or older to participate.

Trunks, Tails, and Tales Kids Only Sleepover

Ages 5+. Come learn about our African animals, more specifically we’ll focus on our elephant herd and see our two new elephants that brings our herd to 6 happy girls. We’ll see gorillas, a rhino, giraffe and more at night and we will even get to meet an African animal in the Loft up close! Let us do all the work, all you have to do is drop the kiddos off, we will have a pizza party, roast s’mores, and go for an evening tour, we’ll even get to meet an animal up close! We will even throw in a continental breakfast and a morning tour will complete your adventure. NOTE: Kids must be 5 years or older to participate.

Ages 12+. Need something to put your pet toys in, or maybe to store hats and mittens, to put the mail in, or just to help clean up a cluttered corner? Get creative while you learn to weave a beautiful and functional basket that fits your lifestyle. The first evening of class we’ll start with a history of the basket, go over terminology, and walk through the process of weaving a basket to completion. Next, we’ll create a basket base and begin to weave height into in as you shape and form it. You’ll have two full days to put your creativity to the test as you finish the course with a completed basket to take home and show off. Registration is open.

Run to the Shrine

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo invites all ages of world class runners and families alike to Run to the Shrine on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Run to the Shrine is a 4-mile run/walk course that curves through the Zoo, up to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun and back down into the Zoo. The run provides some of the most stunning views in the Pikes Peak region. The 4-mile race concludes with a party at Lodge at Moose Lake!

Teddy Bear Day

Children ages 3 to 11 who bring their plush friend save $10 on admission. (Kids 2 and under are just 75¢, and Zoo members are always free.) Kids can stop by the Teddy Bear Clinic at the Lodge at Moose Lake for a free stuffed animal “check-up” and meet medical personnel in a “beary” fun environment. Check out the special animal shows and happenings and come have a BEARiffic day at the Zoo!
