Boo at the Zoo

October 19-20-21, 4 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:30 p.m.) Come See the Original Creatures of the Night. It’ll be all treats and no tricks for your little pirates and princesses at this year’s Boo at the Zoo, the region’s most unique Halloween event. Boo at the Zoo is a fun way for families with young children to trick-or-treat and enjoy Halloween festivities in a safe environment, and all of our candy is made with sustainable palm oil to help protect wild orangutans!

First Adventures w/Nature – Candy Corn Colors

Ages 13-23 months (1 child with 1 adult). Participants will create candy corn art and watch “Mister” the Eclectus parrot show off his candy corn colored beak!

Little Sprouts – Leaping in Leaves

Saturday, November 3 @ 9:15 am - 10:15 am

Ages 2 – 4 years (1 child with 1 adult). Participants will venture up to the nature trail to explore the leaf-covered forest floor. Participants will search for invertebrates preparing for winter under the leafy surface, and create their own leaf pile to jump in.

Animal Care 101 – Reptile Care

Sunday, November 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Adults and children ages 7+. Are you thinking about bringing a new scaly member into your family? Do you already have a reptile sharing your home? Reptile Care 101 provides families with information on how to care for these unique pets. This class includes hands-on activities about diets, enclosures, health concerns, and finding the right reptile for you. As well as meeting some of our favorite reptiles up-close!

First Adventures w/Nature – The Colors of Fall

Ages 13 – 23 months (1 child with 1 adult). Red, orange, yellow, and brown! The leaves on the trees are falling down! Participants will explore the zoo meeting some of the animal ambassadors sporting fall color coats, create leaf-themed crafts and participate in fall-themed activities.

WildNight – Kids Only Roar & Snore Overnight

Saturday, November 17 @ 6:00 pm - Sunday, November 18 @ 8:00 am

Ages 5+. Do the animals at the Zoo snore or roar in the night? You no longer need to guess, come see what it’s like to spend the night among the creatures at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We’ll walk through the Zoo at night and discover what happens when the lights go out and the animals are in the dark. Let us do all the work, all you have to do is drop the kiddos off, we will have a pizza party, roast s’mores, and go for an evening tour, we’ll even get to meet an animal up close! Drop off is at 6 p.m. and pick up is at 8 a.m. the following morning, hope to see you there. We will even throw in a continental breakfast and a morning tour will complete your adventure. Online registration is open!

Animal Care 101 – Small Mammal Care

Adults and children ages 7+. Have you considered bring a hedgehog or chinchilla into your home? Or maybe you are looking to learn more about hamster or guinea pigs. If so, we offer a hands on and interactive class all about caring for small mammals. We will guide you in setting up habitats, learning about health care, and even guide you in deciding what kind of furry friend is best for your household. And, of course, there will be hands-on opportunities with some of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s cutest small mammals!

Run to the Shrine

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo invites all ages of world class runners and families alike to Run to the Shrine on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Run to the Shrine is a 4-mile run/walk course that curves through the Zoo, up to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun and back down into the Zoo. The run provides some of the most stunning views in the Pikes Peak region. The 4-mile race concludes with a party at Lodge at Moose Lake!
