Characteristics: This draught tolerant shrub, native to the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico, grows 4 to 5 feet tall, with equal spread. In summer its silvery branches are sparsely clothed in small deep green leaves, and 1 1/2 inch flowers that resemble single white roses. Feathery seed heads follow; first green, and then maturing to a reddish-pink color. Toward Autumn, flowers and seed heads often appear together. This shrub needs a gritty, well drained soil, prefers full sun, rarely needs pruning, and does not need irrigation.
