Outdoor School: Family Nature Hike

All ages. Location: Fountain Creek Nature Center. Join us at one of Colorado’s most unique parks, Fountain Creek, as naturalists lead you on a hike through a wide variety of habitats. Known as the “oasis on the plains”, we’ll explore through the park’s unique ecosystem and learn what it takes for a natural space to be considered a “habitat.” Registration is required.

Outdoor School: Tracks & Scat

All ages. Location - Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Join us as we take you out onto the Zoo’s nature trail to explore the wilderness around Cheyenne Mountain. Through this in-the-field workshop we’ll learn how to identify specific signs that wildlife leave behind and the stories they can tell us. By studying the variety of animal signs we will learn about the ecology of our natural spaces and how animals interact with the environment around them. Registration is required.

Member Enrichment Night

Zoo Members only - How do we keep our animals active and healthy? We give them enrichment – activities that use natural behaviors, allow control over their environment and enhance their well-being. Enrich your evening by watching our animals enjoy themselves! All restaurants will be open. Please note, we may not have scheduled animal demonstrations for this event, but watch for "pop-up" experiences during your visit. Check your membership email for more details. Outdoor School: Trekking Toddlers (Ages 2-4) – Nov. 13

Ages 2-4 with adult/guardian. Calling all young adventurers! Join us as we trek through Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s very own Nature Trail. While we navigate an easy walk through nature, we will explore our natural mountainside and incorporate fun nature play concepts for everyone to enjoy. Toddlers should be able to walk on their own for at least 15 minutes or be carried in a backpack (strollers cannot be used on the Nature Trail). *Cost covers a toddler and their parent or guardian. Tusks at Dusk – Premium Kids Only Starlight Safari – (Nov. 19)

Ages 5 years and older. Offered Saturday, November 19. Drop off the kiddos for an evening program that will be sure to create a lifetime memory! We will start the evening with a pizza party before indulging in s'mores (weather permitting). After our bellies are full we will tour the Zoo to see what our animals do at night. We will meet an animal up close, and even feed our giraffe herd, we will also tour our Elephant Barn! To wind down before pick up, we will get creative and use fabric markers and stencils to personalize our very own Zoo pillowcase to take home. Registration is required.
